LUKAS MOODYSSON TO SHOOT FIRST ENGLISH LANGUAGE FILM - MAMMOTH.

May 17: Swedish director Lukas Moodysson will begin principal photography this October on MAMMOTH, his first English-language feature film.

With MAMMOTH, Moodysson will take on his most ambitious project yet.
The shoot will take place in New York, Thailand, The Philippines and Sweden.

MAMMOTH revolves around successful New York couple Tom and Ellen, their 8-year old daughter Jackie and their Filipino nanny Gloria. On a business trip to Thailand Tom realizes that he wants to change his life. His decision sets in motion a highly intense and dramatic chain of events.

"I'm really looking forward to directing a film in English," says Moodysson. "After two quite experimental films, I'm excited to return to a more narrative style. I want it to be a movie that will reach out and touch audiences everywhere. Of my previous films MAMMOTH is probably nearest to Together and Lilya 4-ever."

"We all long for things," Moodysson adds. "We yearn for home, to get away, for our children, for our parents, for something new, for what we used to have. MAMMOTH is a film about longing in a world where we are all so close to each other and yet so far apart."

"The aim is to tell this story in a moving, entertaining, big-hearted way. The script has Moodysson´s trademark qualities of being both dramatic and humorous" says producer Lars Jönsson of Memfis Film, who has produced Moodysson´s previous feature films.

NY casting director Avy Kaufman is attached to the project and the cast will be announced later this summer.

DoP will be Marcel Zyskind, who worked on two films in this year's Official Selection in Cannes: Michael Winterbottom´s A Mighty Heart and Harmony Korine´s Mister Lonely.

A Swedish/German/Danish co-production, MAMMOTH will be produced by Memfis Film in co-production with Zentropa Entertainments. Confirmed financiers are Film i Väst, SVT, TV2 Denmark, Swedish Filminstitute, Danish Filminstitute and Nordic Film- & TV Fund.

Pre sales for the film will start in Cannes handled by Trust Film Sales, Denmark.
